I, like almost everyone I know, care about the environment. I recycle, I keep re-usable bags in my car instead of getting plastic bags while I’m shopping, I use energy efficient light bulbs. I listen to what the politicians are saying, or not saying, about reducing our carbon footprints. But we need to take a closer look at climate change, and what we are doing, and what we are willing to do to change the effects we are having on our world, before it’s too late.
“We are all passengers on a train heading towards a cliff. We idly sit in the train cars gorging ourselves while those running the train debate how much the train should be slowed, and at what point the slowing of the train should begin. Some of those running the train feel that a long-term slowing is best, lest the speed be compromised, while others feel there is no reason to slow down. Our lives hang in the balance, why are we simply sitting in the train car without taking the controls ourselves?” -C. Baird

Read what Mr. Baird has to say about our choices, and what their consequences may be.
“We are at a crossroads and we stand in front of two paths. Once on these paths, there is no going back, there is no do-over. The choice will have been made, and those who follow us will have to live with the decision we make right now.”
WE NEED TO MAKE PEOPLE PAY ATTENTION. WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT OUR CHOICES TODAY ARE GOING TO STAY WITH US. IF WE MAKE THE WRONG CHOICES, MOTHER NATURE IS GOING TO UNCEREMONIOUSLY STRIP US OF THE POWER THAT WE HAVE DECIDED WE ARE ALLOWED TO WIELD, AND WE WILL HAVE NO DO-OVERS. OUR WORST POSSIBLE CHOICE? IGNORING THAT THERE IS A CHOICE. IGNORING THAT WE DO, IN FACT, HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE A CHOICE.
Please send this to as many people as possible. If you don’t, no evil leprechauns will attack you within 72 hours. The love of your life won’t dump you. You won’t have bad luck for 7 years. But you may miss the opportunity to open someone’s eyes to the greatest power that we, as human beings have: the power of choice.
